There is an incredibly high demand for child, adolescent and young adult psychiatrists at present. We recognise that it is distressing to be unable to find care for yourself or your family.
Our focus is on trying to maintain quality care for current patients and be able to see them as regularly a they are needed. Psychiatric care is often long-term, particularly when there is a therapeutic focus and the person benefits from ongoing contact and support.
As much as we would like to open books again to offer care for more people, Dr Richardson is currently working five full days of clinic per week and as such it is not possible to add on any time in clinic.
This also means that former patients who have been discharged and have not been seen in some time may not be able to be offered a new episode of care. Please contact us directly at admin@drmeganrichardson.com.au to enquire about this.
There is no waiting list, because if you need psychiatric support, we believe that you should be able to access it in a timely and predictable way. The only waiting list we operate is for current patients who need a specific appointment time or day and they have a future appointment firmly booked in case there is no cancellation.
If you are seeking psychiatric care, we would suggest contacting the larger clinics who have multiple psychiatrists, GPs with special interests, if your young person is 16 or older I would look to see whether any adult psychiatrist could take on their care and if they are at risk or very unwell, please contact your local CYMHS (Child and Youth Mental Health Service) and attend your family GP.
We will update this website when Dr Richardson's books reopen.
